Jack Wolfskin warns hobbyists from paws for patterns

I really can't believe it. How can a simple paw shape (like the one all Photoshop user have in their presets folder!!) cause such trouble. How can JW claim that such a (handcrafted) paw on a pillow is already a copyright infringement?
Does that mean when I paint my cat's paws and print them on a piece of fabric and sell it I must be afraid of that company? I have so much to say, but I better shut up.
I would understand if there are thousands of copies of THEIR ORIGINAL LOGO (which actually isn't very creative), but that is too much. Freedom for our animals paws!
